Beth Allen, Executive Director

Beth Allen was hired to lead the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance in Fall 2017, a job she pursued after working for the organization as a development consultant charged with securing funding for a part-time Executive Director. An experienced fundraiser and arts manager, since 2006 Allen has specialized in building organizational and fundraising capacity at entrepreneurial arts organizations combining artistic excellence with strong social missions. Her work experience includes serving as chief development officer at Prospect New Orleans and Art21, and as a freelance development consultant for clients that have included Performa, Kyle Abraham/Abraham in Motion, Theatre for a New Audience, and UrbanGlass. Allen holds a graduate certificate from the Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance at Wesleyan University, C.Phil and MA in Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles, and BA in History from Northwestern University. She has happily lived in Brooklyn since 2001.
