Requirements and Benefits

DBAA Membership is open to non-profit organizations with a significant focus on the arts or culture based in or providing services within DBAA’s membership area. New members must be meet eligibility requirements and be voted in by current members at one of our biannual All-Member meetings.

All staff at DBAA member organizations are encouraged to participate in all DBAA activities, including advocacy initiatives and professional development and networking events, as well as to collaborate with and support peers at other member organizations. Member organizations are invited to host events and encourage their staff to serve on committees, participate in discussions about DBAA priorities and programs, and vote on key initiatives. DBAA is in the process of transitioning to a fully-elected board, with the majority of positions reserved for those employed in staff positions at member organizations; we encourage all members to consider serving on the DBAA board or on one of our committees that ensure our programming and operations are aligned with the needs of our member organizations, our goals for diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, and fostering strong relationships with civic leaders and residents in Downtown Brooklyn.

Please Note: DBAA’s programming and initiatives are focused on serving the needs of non-profit arts and cultural organizations. While we recognize the diversity of organizational structures, applicants are required to demonstrate ongoing programmatic or administrative activities pursued as an organization in order to be considered for membership.

Fees

DBAA will be transitioning to single category of membership with annual sliding-scale dues based on annual budget size on July 1, 2023.

New - Annual Dues Amounts for FY24 (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024)
Budget over $15 million – $5,000
Budget $5 - 14,999 million – $2,500
Budget $1 - 4,999 million – $1,000
Budget $250K - 1 million - $500
Budget under $250K – $200

Dues may be paid annually or in biannual, quarterly, or monthly installments.
